About the Museum

In 1988, when historic buildings and equipment were at risk of being lost to flooding from the construction of the Oldman Dam, an ambitious group of volunteers came together to save these important pieces of local history. With support from the Government of Alberta, the Oldman River Antique Equipment and Threshing Club and Heritage Acres Farm Museum were established. What started as a mission to protect artifacts along the Oldman, Castle, and Crowsnest Rivers soon grew into a community effort to preserve and share Southern Alberta’s rich agricultural heritage.
